Retinal astrocyte morphology predicts integration of vascular and neuronal architecture

چکیده
Astrocytes are important regulators of blood flow and play a key role in the response to injury disease central nervous system (CNS). Despite having an understanding that structural changes these cells have consequences for local neurovascular physiology, individual astrocyte morphology remains largely unexplored retina. Here, we used MORF3 mice capture full membranous over fifteen hundred astrocytes mouse retina, highly metabolically active component CNS. We demonstrate retinal been misrepresented as stellate due marker use like GFAP S100β which underestimates cell complexity. also find contain recurring morphological motifs predictive underlying architecture inner retina suggestive function. These predict fine sampling integration ganglion electrical activity with regulation. Additionally, our data shows participate interactions much greater degree than currently reported. 100% contact vasculature through one three mutually exclusive classes connections. Similarly, some neuronal element, be it RGC axon or soma. Finally, report depends on eccentricity, appearing compressed near nerve head periphery. results reveal large complexity informs their contribution coupling

The relationship between the intraretinal vessels of the human fundus and the surrounding neuronal tissue is discussed with regard to various disease states. Present evidence suggests that primary retinal neuronal death does not lead to secondary retinal capillary death. Primary retinal capillary non-perfusion generally leads to concomitant retinal neuronal degeneration, but if the occlusion ta...

94 The rates of reported HIV-associated central nervous system (CNS) complications have declined since the advent of potent antiretroviral therapy (Figure 1). Although our progress is impressive, a close look shows that HIV-associated neurocognitive disturbance is still an important issue despite the vast clinical improvements achieved with antiretroviral treatment. Systematic evaluation of mor...

Understanding retinal vascular development is crucial because many retinal vascular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy (in adults) or retinopathy of prematurity (in children) are among the leading causes of blindness. Given the localization of the protein Dp71 around the retinal vessels in adult mice and its role in maintaining retinal homeostasis, the aim of this study was to determine if D...
